Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard has refused to even enter into negotiations with Arsenal who are said to be keen to sign him on a loan with an option. A giant of a player when he was at Chelsea, it’s safe to say Eden Hazard’s move to Spain has not lived up to the hype generated by his £103.5m transfer there in 2019.
Over the past week or so, there have been numerous reports that Arsenal are keen on signing Eden Hazard on a loan deal with an option to purchase the player at the end of that period. Arsenal were said to have already met with Hazard’s reps to sound out a move and, at that point, it was claimed that Hazard had no interest and wished to remain in Spain.
Now, a report claims that he 31-year-old, who has played just 877 minutes this season, scoring one and assisting two, has no interest in even speaking to Arsenal himself. That has prompted some to call him the ‘new Gareth Bale’ at Real Madrid, due to his fat paycheque and limited playing time, although Bale has only played 290 minutes this season.
AS in Spain believe that Real Madrid intend to send Hazard on loan next season but, should that happen, it seems highly unlikely he will rock up at Arsenal. During his time at Chelsea, Hazard played 19 times against Arsenal, winning nine, losing five, scoring seven and assisting three.
He did not score more than that against any other side (although Hazard also scored seven against Liverpool, Newcastle, West Brom and Bournemouth). Scoring 110, with 92 assists, in 352 games for Chelsea (a goal or assist every 1.7 games), Hazard has just six goals (and 10 assists) in 65 appearances for Real Madrid (a goal or assist every 4 games). He is currently valued at around £14m and is under contract until 2024.
